SUMMER 1 2022
We are approaching the Summer term! Please check out the Topic Web on the topic web page to see what we will be learning about during this term and have a go at some ideas from here over the Easter holidays. We love seeing your pictures and videos on Tapestry and the children love sharing them so keep up the 'uploading'.
Our new topic is "What keeps us alive?" where we will be learning what animals and plants need to live and how life cycles work. We have our class tadpoles in school already which are growing nicely and we will be getting class caterpillars which we will be looking after before they're ready to be released into the wild as butterflies! We will be learning about plants and planting our own seeds and beans which we will observe spout roots and grow stems and leaves as well as planting some flowers in our own nature garden outside. We will be observing how our sunflowers are growing that we planted for world down syndrome day... send us some pictures of how yours is doing at home. As part of this topic, we also look at mini beasts... bees, spiders, beetles, worms and all those intriguing animals we often find in our minibeast hotel outside.
This term we will also be learning about signs of summer. In geography we will explore our local area as well as learning about countryside, towns and cities and in RE we will be going on our year group trip to the church! We really do make the most of this term to get stuck into some outdoor learning and find links with the local community first hand.
In Literacy, our focus is now phase 4 phonics where we will continue to follow the little wandle scheme and practise reading and writing and in Maths, we are looking at number facts, doubling, halving and measuring.
We are grateful for your continued support and positivity, this term will be just as great as the rest. In the meantime have an enjoyable Easter break and we look forward to seeing you when we return :)

SPRING 2 2022
Half way through! Well done to all the Grasshoppers and Caterpillars AND the super grown ups for supporting them at home. They are all making progress and we are all so proud of them.
We are so excited for the new topic "Where did the dinosaurs go?" and learning about space and dinosaurs. We will be learning the names of the planets in our solar system, about asteriods, meteors, comets and the international space station. We will be discovering if the dinosaurs went to live on another planet or if an asteriod came to earth and made them extinct. We will be learning the names of different dinosaurs, what they used to eat, where they lived and what they looked like.
This term we will also be learning about signs of spring, how to use junk modelling to make things, how to explore textures, what places are special and why and learning lots about relationships. Have a look at our topic web to find out more.
In Literacy, we will continue to be focusing on writing alongside reading which includes writing both words and sentences. In Maths, we are looking at how to use our numbers to 10, measuring and weighing and shapes.
Door is always open if you have any questions and we will be happy to give you ideas of how you can support your child at home.
The Foundation Stage Team
Happy New Year everyone! We hope you have all managed to have a good break. The Foundation Stage Team are looking forward to the term ahead and we are really happy to welcome your little people back into school.
Our topic for the Spring term is 'Are you afraid of the dark?'. We will be learning about nocturnal animals, finding out how ice is made and carrying out some other icy investigations. We'll also be looking at the how the weather changes during each season and exploring cold habitats.
In Literacy, we will now be focusing on writing alongside reading which includes writing both words and sentences. In Maths, we are looking at how to use our numbers to 5 to add, takeaway, make number bonds and see patterns.
As always, we are here if you have any questions or concerns and we will be more than happy to help you however we can.
