Follow Our Learning 2021-22

We have really enjoyed our Platinum Jubilee Celebrations and learnt a lot about the past 70 years!

We loved making our hand puppet in design and technology!

We were very interested in learning about the Fire and Rescue service and learning how to keep safe in th event of a fire.

This half term we are conducting an investigation into what conditions plants need to grow best. Here we are setting it up!

As part of Geography Awareness week we have been learning about endangered animals. To help, we decided to do jobs at home to raise money to sponsor our own class animal! We were so excited to receive our information welcome pack and cuddly toy today!

We have been learning about the life of Guru Nanak to celebrate his birthday.

We have had a brilliant day taking part in Children in Need in our pyjamas!

As part of Anti-bullying Week we have been celebrating odd socks day and doing a range of activities related to kindness!

We have had an amazing time on our trip to the farm! We explored the land, learnt about crops, milled our own flour, went on a stream walk, investigated fallen trees, had lunch in 'The Big House', saw different kinds of farm machinery, and met lots of friendly animals! What a busy day!

In DT we are designing and creating our own smoothies. Here we are doing some product research before we plan our own recipes!

This term we are learning about how to communicate safely online. As part of this we have begun corresponding with a class in another school via email. We love finding out what they are learning about and sharing what we have been doing in our class!

We have been learning all about Diwali and how and why it is celebrated. We made rangoli patterns and shared ways our class members will be celebrating at home.

We collected food for those who really need it as part of our Harvest Celebration.

We took part in a special workshop to learn about Black History Month.

We had a fantastic time playing board games which we had designed and created ourselves!

We were very excited to see what one of our class members had grown at home and brought in to show us!

We had a special visit from Mrs Sadler to talk about how we support charities in school and what we can do to help at home.

Today we celebrated European Day of Languages. Our language was French! We learnt new words, numbers and colours, decorated flags, brought in French items from home and had lots of fun.

To help support with reading comprehension at home we are popping of copy of these questions in your reading diaries to talk about during your daily reading.

We have been on a virtual school trip to a dairy and wind farm and explored a factory!

We had a special visitor for PE. We really enjoyed it!

This morning in Maths we have been on a number hunt around school - look at how many numbers we found!

In English we are starting work on the Three Billy Goats Gruff. Today we have been working as a team to build bridges using different resources.

As part of our topic we have been looking at where different foods come from around the world. We also got to see what they all taste like!

We've been thinking about our feelings and how to deal with different emotions and have drawn our own Colour Monsters.

This week is Brain Week! We have been learning about developing our growth mindset, what our brain does, and how we can keep it happy and healthy.

Week 1 and we have already had some amazing work sent in from home - keep up the fantastic work Year 2!

Turtle Class have been making their Class Mascots!

Reading Diaries have now been sent home. In the back you will also find your log in details for Bug Club, Seesaw and Spelling shed just in case you forget them. We look forward to hearing what you have been reading about!

We have had a wonderful first day getting to know our new class mates and teachers.

It was fantastic to see you all back in School today - we hoped you enjoyed your first day in Year 2!
