In geography we are learning about human and physical features. Today we went on a walk to identify the human and physical features in Stenson Fields!

Our very own celebrity! She is making our school very proud caring for others.

More VE Day fun! We played old fashioned games, and had cake and juice. We also designed our very own war medals.

Today we had a very special visit from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service. Please ask us all about what we learnt.

We have been continuing learning about our planet. Today we have been learning about the 5 oceans.

Today we are authors. We are enjoying writing our own stories and sharing our stories with our friends.

We are loving our Music lessons! We are learning how to play the glockenspiel.

Today we started a new unit called position and direction in Maths. We went outside and followed instructions with positional language.

Today we had a spelling test these were the words.

In geography we have been learning about the 7 continents including their shapes and positions on the world map.

Chameleon Class acting and performing Handa's Surprise!

In English today we went outside and acted out the story of Handa's Surprise. It was a lovely sunny drama lesson.

Today in PE we started our Athletics unit. It was a lovely sunny day to go outside for our lesson.

Today we collected data and made our very own tally charts!

Today we started our new English unit. We are reading Handa's Surprise. We tried to carry the basket of fruit on our head just like Handa.

Chameleon Class loved their trip to Kenya this morning!

We have started to learn how to tell the time today. We have learnt O' Clock and Half past the hour.

We loved looking at these African artefacts that were kindly given to us to borrow. Some of the children loved dressing up in the African print clothing.

We have our passports ready and have boarded the plane. When we finally arrived we went on a safari and spotted a lot of animals. Then we travelled to see Victoria Falls. It was very impressive. We have had a very busy morning already!

Turtle class are all excited and ready for our virtual trip to Africa this morning.

This week we were tested on these spellings. Thank you for helping your children learn the words on their spelling mat.

Today we had a very important zoom meeting. We found out the winner of the Derby Book Festival. The winner was Flower Block. It was lovely to be on a zoom with lots of other schools in Derby. We all voted for our favourite book.

Today in our Mathematics lesson we were learning about temperature. We walked around the school and found all the cold places and the hot places. Can you see where we looked?

Our Special Visitors - Speak Out Stay Safe

Today we had some very special visitors from the NSPCC. We learnt all about speaking out and staying safe.

This is our final book from the Derby book festival. It is all about a refugee.

We are learning about capacity in maths.

We learned to clap an ostinato, and we also used instruments to play it.

We have started learning about Queen Victoria. We were amazed at all the inventions during her reign!

As part of Science week this week, we have designed our own Insect Hotels. Tomorrow we plan to make some. Watch this space!

Today we created our own flower windows and then made a class flower block. Can you spot our family members in the window?

This afternoon we completed an investigation linked to animals adapting to their environment.

This week is Science week. This morning we had a special Science lesson live streamed to school all about training to be an astronaut.

Today we went looking for minibeasts in their micro-habitat. Look what we found!

We were lucky to watch a special message from the illustrator of the book 'The dress in the window', Pippa Curnick. She taught us how to draw the boy in the story.

World Book Day in Turtle class.

PC Bob came to talk to us about his job. He is a real life superhero!

Today in PSHE we learned that tablets can look like sweets. We learned never to put anything in our mouths without checking with an adult first!

After reading The Dress in the Window, we thought about other things that are okay for both boys and girls!

Today in D and T we experimented with doweling to make wheels and axles. We used different objects as the wheels.

Today we had a lesson from the NSPCC called PANTS. This was all about keeping our private parts private. We learned the Pantosaurus song and designed our own Pants. What do you think?

This week is Book Week in school. We are all reading ‘The Dress in the Window’. We even watched a special message to our school from the author. We designed our own fabulous outfits today. What do you think?

We have started learning about two very famous queens today - Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth I. We made crowns and had our very own coronation!

Today we were looking around to find items that are longer than a metre in length.

This week we are learning all about length.

We are really enjoying exploring our new book called If I Were Prime Minister. We began to think about rules we would make if we were Prime Minister!

We are taking part in the Derby Book Festival. This is the book we are reading this week. We have two more to read soon and then we will vote for our favourite.

In science we have been learning about materials. Today we investigated which material would make a good umbrella for Super Ted.

We are having a great last day of Children's mental health week and love making models with play-doh.

We had great fun on the trim trail, in the sensory garden, chalking the playground and chasing bubbles.

We enjoyed listening to Torin who wrote his own book and read it to us. We then relaxed with some meditation.

We read the book Ebbs and flows which is all about a little girl and her feelings. We wrote some questions for the author as tomorrow we are going to chat with her on zoom. We are very excited.

Today we started Children's mental health week with a whole school assembly. We then set ourselves a personal goal to achieve by the end of the week.

We have enjoyed celebrating Chinese new year today. We made snakes as it is the year of the snake.

We have seen some wonderful homework linked to our Superhero topic. Thank you for your support at home.

In RE we have been learning about the different celebrations of some religions. Today we thought about the similarities and differences of the celebrations.

We are reading a story called Lost and found in English. Today we had to look for a missing penguin around the school. Look on our door for more photographs.

Today we had a phone call from someone looking for a missing penguin so we went on a penguin hunt! This was strange because the book we are reading in English is also all about finding a penguin!

In science, we have been learning about natural and manmade materials.

We are loving our art unit using natural materials. Today we made sculptures out of sticks!

This week we have started learning about Multiplication. We began today by looking at equal and unequal groups.

Today in Gymnastics we were performing sequences with basic shapes on apparatus.

This week we are still working on Money. Today we were comparing different amounts of money. We had to look at whether they were more than, less than or equal to one another.

We used coins to make different amounts of money!

Today we have been on a material hunt. We have been thinking about the object and the mterial!

We used a conscience alley in RE to help Moses with his dilemma...

We have been learning about the features of a non-chronological report so we are ready to write our own!

In Science we have been learning about seed dispersal.

We loved smoothie making today. We chopped, grated and peeled the fruit. We designed our packaging. We picked 3 fruits and made our very own smoothie. They tasted delicious!

We have started our new term really well and have been working hard adding 2 2 digit numbers in Mathematics.
