We had a dental nurse in for a PSHE lesson about looking after our teeth.
We are starting our instructions about how to catch a pirate! These are things we will need.
We enjoyed our castle day. We role-played what people would have been doing if they lived in the castle keep or if they lived in the bailey in the olden days..
Science Week: We had lots of fun learning about sea life and plants. We thought about what would happen if there were no fish left!
Humpty Dumpty Investigation: We had lots of fun finding a new crash mat for Humpty Dumpty!
For recycling day we used the pears that don't get eaten to make pear cakes.
Year 1 trip to Tamworth Castle
We celebrated Number Day in year 1. We came to school dressed as a number and we did lots of number activities and games. We had lots of fun!
World Book Day March 2nd 2023
The children had lots of fun today with a surprise book given to us by Mrs Faulkner! We made predictions, went on an acorn hunt, sequenced the story and talked about the story.
In RE we have started thinking about celebrations. The children contributed their ideas and drew illustrations to go on the mind map. Well done Year 1!
For mental Health week we talked about how it is good to connect with people and have the support of our friends. These are some 'connecting' activities we did as a class together.
In Maths we went outside to draw number lines. We estimated where on a line certain numbers would be.
We have talked in computing about what personal information is safe or unsafe to share.
We all helped do some cooking. We made rocky road in the morning, so then we could eat it during our party afternoon.
Chloe came in to show us some of her gymnastics moves and she led a PE warm up.
All year 1 children took turns to help make a Christmas Wreath. We found out about evergreens compared to trees which lose their leaves in winter.
In science we were finding out about birds. We looked at different types of bird, feathers, eggs. The bird clock had different bird sounds on it. We made bird feeders using cereal to hang on trees in the winter.
For Geography we sorted out items that belong in South America and North America.
In Maths, we have been thinking about number bonds within 10. We used Numicon to help us find number bonds to 6. We also wrote the addition calculations to show our number bonds! Mrs Pashley was soooooooo impressed!
In learning choices children matched animal pictures and animal names.
For a class treat we made a bear out of bread, we used raisins for it's face!
In Maths we went outside to practice writing our numbers.
We have been learning about each of the continents. This week we looked at Australia, we had some artefacts.
In Science, we have been learning about animals. Jungle Jo came to see us to teach us more about different groups of animals. She brought some of her friends to see us too!
