Our trip to Tamworth Castle

At the end of our History topic we had a special themed 'Castle day'. We did some role play to find out what life would have been like doing jobs in the bailey or living in the Castle keep as a Lord and lady!

In Science week we observed how long it takes for different materials to melt.

In RE we have started to think about different celebrations

All the year 1 children have been on a walk to visit the local Sinfin Library and chosen a book.

As art of Mental Health week we made telephones and talked to each other. It was about letting your voice being heard.

We found out how people celebrate Chinese new year.

Number Day- we read The Shape Spotters and we talked about the properties of shapes. We sorted the shapes out to finish.

In Geography we are looking at how maps work. We positioned some PE equipment to match the map and looked at it from different viewpoints.

In English we did some role-play from our 'Zog' story.

In science we talked about winter; we used cards to sort the difference between winter (still going!) and Christmas (finished!)

In PSHE we talked about feelings, it was Jake Rabbit's birthday and we had a party!

We created our own 'fairy tale' land in English.

We wore odd socks for anti bullying week. It's ok to be different, we can still al be friends!

As part of our Diwali celebrations we made Diva lights.

Bob the bear wrote everyone an individual letter!

This week in Maths, we have started learning about addition and subtraction. We have introduced the children to part-whole models and they have been exploring these today with a partner.

Today was 'European Day of Languages'. We sorted out some artefacts from different countries. Ask us about the French words we learnt!

We had a great time with Jungle Jo seeing the animals!

We made a bear using bread, butter, jam and raisins.

In English we pretended to go on our own bear hunt; water, mud, snow, cave...then back to the house under the cover!
