SUMMER TERM FUN!

We have caterpillars! Watch them grow with us...

WORLD BOOK DAY FUN!

What a great week we have had! The children looked amazing in their costumes and we have done lots of fun activities about dinosaurs linked to our whole school book - Have you seen Dinosaur? by David Barrow.

We even had a visit from the cheeky Dinosuar who has been sneaking around our school grounds! The children were VERY excited!

NUMBER DAY FUN!

The children had lots of fun talking about their 'digit' outfits. We read several stories involving number including 'How many legs?' by Kes Gray and Jim Field and lots of our learning choices linked to number too.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION -SPECIAL PLACES

This term in RE we have been learning all about special places. We have talked about different holy places of worship.  We had a visitor from the Open Centre in Derby who came to talk to us about Islam and life as a Muslim. The children had a great time learning all about prayer and finding special artefacts around the classroom.

We have several different religions in our school and it is so important that the children learn from each other and also learn to respect different beliefs, religions and cultures. heart

OWL VISITOR!

We loved having Archie the Barn Owl and Gizmo the White faced owl visiting our school! It was so exciting to watch them fly and learn lots of interesting facts about them.  We are really enjoying the topic about nocturnal animals so this experience linked perfectly.  The children asked some fantastic questions and were so calm when the owls swooped right above their heads!

THE START OF SPRING 1 FUN!

The children have had lots of fun learning about nocturnal animals as part of our topic - Are you afraid of the dark? We have read the story 'Owl Babies', used puppets for role play and made playdough owls. The children are working really hard on their writing too! We have been learning about shapes and went on a shape hunt around the school. We've enjoyed making dens and lighting them with torches as well as lots of junk modelling! What a great start to a new term!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

The children worked so hard on the nativity play and made all of the adults so proud! Well done everyone!

HAPPY DIWALI!

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

Today we wore yellow accessories to celebrate world mental health day. We talked about how to keep our brains happy and how to look after each other. heart

BLACK HISTORY MONTH!

We had a very special visitor into school this week to tell us all about Africa. We listened to some African music and did some African dancing. Thank you Bema for telling us all about your life!

WHO ARE OUR REAL LIFE SUPERHEROES?

This term we are learning about people who help us. We have had a visit from a window cleaner and a dental nurse. The children loved hearing all about their jobs and asking them questions.  Lots of our learning choices link to our topic too and we have particularly loved role play as fire fighters!

AUTUMN 1 FUN! WELCOME EVERYONE!

What a wonderful start to the new school year! The Caterpillars and Grasshoppers have settled so well and are having lots of fun exploring and making new friends. heart
