Eid Murbarak to all of our families who celebrate

The children always love to share their experiences from home. We love to learn from each other! heart

BOOK WEEK

This week to celebrate World Book week, the children came dressed in an outfit that made them feel fabulous to link to the story the whole school read - The dress in the window.  They watched a video from the author that was made especially for our school, their grown ups were invited in to read with them, we did a 'How to draw' for one of the characters and dressed up as their favourite book characters.  Some of the children brought in their favourite story from home to share with their class. What a lovely week all about reading! heart

SPRING TERM FUN

The children have loved our topic this term - Where did the dinosaurs go?  We've read 'Dear Chocosaur' and 'How to look after your dinosuar' in our Drawing Club along with lots of non-fiction books about dinosaurs.  We've been learning about the number 6,7 and 8 and how to double numbers.  The children have been Palaentologists and they had great fun trying to release the 'fossils' from the ice.  The children have been working so hard with their writing and have remembered lots of facts about dinosaurs.

OUR RECEPTION GARDEN

We are developing a vegetable growing area in our playground for the children to look after and nurture.  This links really well with our Summer 1 topic - 'What keeps us alive?' It is all about plants and life cycles. We can't wait to see what grows!

CHINESE NEW YEAR

SPACE DAY

AUTUMN TERM FUN AND HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

What a busy term it has been!  The children were absolutely amazing in their Nativity performances - we were so proud of them all!  We've had fun making biscuit houses, playing festive games on 'Elf Day' and finding out what our cheeky Elf has been up to each day.  We have continued with our music and movement workshops too. We had a Christmas party and we played lots of fun games.

REMEMBERANCE DAY

ODD SOCKS FOR ANTI BULLYING WEEK

HAPPY DIWALI

We had lots of fun learning about Diwali. We made our own Divas which we then decorated. We designed our own mehndi patterns and coloured rangoli patterns. We joined the rest of the school for a special Diwali assembly and some of us wore our special Diwali clothes. We love learning from each other.

HARVEST FESTIVAL

We enjoyed making a harvest box for all of the donations we received.

Mental health awareness day 💛

Today we have talked about how to keep our brains happy and calm. We have done some yoga and meditation, played some games and we wore our own comfy clothes with something yellow. 💛 We spend lots of time in school talking about how to use breathing to help to calm us down when we are angry or upset.

Our class pet!

In our home corner we wanted a pet to look after. The shop Pets at home was very generous and let us have some things for free to use in our classrooms!  They gave us two dog beds, two toys, two food bowls and two doggy jumpers. We are going to vote on the name of our dog and learn how to look after it. Watch this space for some photos...

Music partnership

We've been really lucky to have some very musical visitors working with our children recently. They are teaching us some great songs, movements and rhythms to help us with our learning.  They will be in a few more times before Christmas which we are all looking forward to.

Cauliflower cards

To raise money for our school and to give the children the chance to have their beautiful art work made into real Christmas cards, our school is taking part in something called Cauliflower cards. Look at some of our amazing work.

Story vote

As part of our British Values learning, we have started a book vote each day so that the children can choose which story they would like to hear during story time. We have talked about the importance of everyone having their say and respecting each other if someone makes a different choice to you.  The children also get to choose at Learning Choice time from a wide range of activities both inside and outside. They also get to choose what to play with during our amazing OPAL at lunchtime.

Autumn treasure hunt

We went on a hunt to finds signs of Autumn and we found some leaves to help us to make our magic Autumn wands.  What a lovely afternoon we all had.

Sport's fun!

Premier Sports have been coming to work with us to show us how to play some games.  We love trying them out with our friends on our playground.

Drawing Club has started and we love it!

Drawing club is new to our school this year and what a great start we've had with it. The children have enjoyed exploring stories, going on adventures with the characters, changing settings and adding magic to their pictures. They are so imaginative!  So far we've read The Colour Monster to help us with feelings, The Three Little Pigs and The Gingerbread Man.  What great little storytellers they are!

AUTUMN 1

What a great start we have had to our Stenson journey!  We have enjoyed making new friends, exploring our classrooms and getting to know the adults that help us. We were all so brave on the first day!
