Summer 1 - What Happens when things Grow and Change?
This half term has been so interesting and exciting. The children have talked about how some plants and animals grow and change. We enjoyed watching some tadpoles and looking at how they got bigger, changed colour and started growing legs. Our NELI story, 'Franklin Frog' taught us more about this too. We also got to see how the caterpillars from Reception had changed into butterflies and then we watched them be released. It was interesting to look at different types of seeds and we talked about the things they would need in order to grow healthy and strong. We have watched a bean seed grow and the children also planted their own cress seeds so that they could see what happened and how they changed.
The world around us has continued to change and we have observed how the trees look different and have changed over the course of this half term. We have also enjoyed some warmer weather!
We were very lucky when Mrs Longman brought in her beautiful new baby to meet us. We talked about how he was different to how the children are now and what they were like as babies. The children learnt that they have changed over time such as growing teeth and being able to walk and talk when they couldn't before.
Alongside this, we continue to work on our mathematical skills and develop our relationsips and understanding of feelings as well as having lots of fun!
Mental Health Awareness Day
On Friday 15th May, we joined in with the rest of school by talking about ways to help us feel good and happy. We said that being active was very good for our mental health. As such, we spent the day busy on bikes and scooters on the big playground, taking part in games and races and doing some yoga. In the afternoon, we enjoyed joining in with the rest of school by enjoying ice pops on the field. This made us all feel happy and relaxed!
