Spring 2 - Where do Animals live?
This half term has been all about animals, with a particular focus on habitats.
The children started by talking about their own pets or animals that they know. They explained what they knew about what those pets needed and what sort of home they lived in.
We also learnt that animals live in a variety of places around the world and that these places can look and feel very different from each other.
We noticed that the world around us was changing some more and could see buds on trees and more flowers growing. The temperature is also getting warmer. The children enjoyed going on a hunt to find things that can be seen in Spring.
Science Week
Science week is all about enjoying Science and developing skills associated with it. We chose some concepts that the children could easily investigate and that would lead to interesting conversations. The children really enjoyed learning about things that were magnetic and not magnetic, and they also investigated floating and sinking.
Duck Hatching
We have been so lucky over the past 2 weeks to watch some ducklings hatch and grow. We had 5 duck eggs delivered to us and we listened to how we should look after them. We also talked about what they needed in their enclosure to ensure they stay happy and healthy.
The children loved having the chance to hold and stroke them and learnt about how to do this gently.
Eid ul Fitr
Many of our families have celebrated Eid together this half term. We learnt about why it is special and what happens for people during this time. Some children shared some photos of their celebrations and everyone listened very carefully and politely.
Easter
The children have enjoyed taking part in Easter activities. They used their creative skills to make pictures and even had a go at an Easter egg hunt.
